Terms & community rules
Pitstop is a small trip planner for groups of friends, run by one person. These are the rules for using it. They're short on purpose, so please actually read them.
The short version. Be decent to each other. No harassment, no hate, nothing sexual involving anyone underage, nothing illegal. If someone breaks that, report it and it gets dealt with, usually within a day. Your trips are yours, and you can delete your account whenever you like.
Who can use it
- You need to be 13 or older.
- Pitstop is in beta and invite-only. New accounts need the sign-up code from someone who already uses it.
- One account per person. Keep your password to yourself; you're responsible for what happens on your account.
Community rules
Anything you post (trip names, descriptions, stops, messages, reviews, photos, pet sketches, your profile) must not include:
- Harassment or bullying: targeting, threatening or intimidating someone, or telling anyone to hurt themselves.
- Hate: slurs, or attacks on people for their race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexuality, disability or similar.
- Sexual content. Anything sexual involving a minor is never allowed, is removed immediately, and is reported to the authorities.
- Violence or self-harm encouraged or glorified.
- Other people's private information shared without their permission, such as addresses, phone numbers or photos.
- Anything illegal, and content you don't have the right to share.
- Spam, scams and impersonation.
There is no tolerance for this content or for people who post it. Pitstop automatically refuses some of the worst language, but the main protection is people reporting things.
Reporting and blocking
- Every message, review, trip, profile and pet has a Report option. Reports go to the person who runs Pitstop, who reviews them, normally within 24 hours.
- Breaking the rules gets content removed, and can get an account suspended or deleted.
- You can Block anyone. You stop seeing their messages and reviews, and neither of you can friend the other or add the other to a trip. They aren't told. Your blocked list is on your account page.
Your stuff
What you post stays yours. By posting it you let Pitstop store it and show it to the people you've shared it with, which is all it's used for. It's never sold and never used for ads. You can download a copy of everything about your account, or delete the account, from your account page. See the privacy page for exactly what's kept.
The trip assistant
The assistant is an AI. Its suggestions can be wrong: places close, prices change, and it doesn't know about road conditions, weather or travel advisories. Check anything important yourself before you rely on it. If it says something inappropriate, use the Report link under its reply.
Plans, not bookings
Pitstop helps you organise a trip. It isn't a travel agency and doesn't book anything. You're responsible for your own travel, bookings, safety and costs, including anything split through the budget tool.
It's a beta
Pitstop is provided as it is, without promises that it will always be available or free of mistakes. It's backed up regularly, but keep your own copy of anything you can't lose. To the extent the law allows, the person running Pitstop isn't liable for losses from using it. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer protection law.
Ending things
You can delete your account at any time from your account page. Accounts that break these rules can be suspended or removed.
Changes
If these rules change in a way that matters, the version at the top changes and you'll be asked to agree again before you post anything new.
Where this applies
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and of Canada as they apply there.
